Urban Prairie

One of my favorite TV shows of all time is HBO's Big Love. My favorite character on the show is Bill's second wife, Nikki. In addition to her character's personality, I always loved her style, but couldn't see how to incorporate it into my wardrobe.

Then, this past weekend, I discovered this AWESOME boot skirt that turned out to be the missing piece. It is extremely flattering and comfortable!

I needed to find a way to "urbanize" and bring this pioneer skirt up to date. I started by pairing it with a funky animal print shirt from the Limited. This was one of my favorite shirts this summer and it's taking me into the fall now!

Isn't this belt awesome? It came attached to the skirt and has a designer look and feel. Best part? It's completely elastic in the back! Bring on the meatball sub for lunchtime!

Even with the fun printed shirt, the outfit just wasn't "funky" enough for me, so I added some fun stockings underneath to spice it up!

It wouldn't have been complete without my signature chunky bling! Bracelet stacking is totally in now, and I think that combined with the necklace and earrings, it really takes this outfit from schoolteacher to urban chic.

This watch and bracelet set was also a steal at around $25!

I've also been addicted to stackable rings lately.

I picked up these earrings on a whim and they go with EVERYTHING!!!!

And that, ladies and gentleman, is how you go from the Oregon Trail to Times Square!! (Or should I say Moore Square? Ha!)  Hope you enjoyed! Come back soon!

  1. Great Pictures! That skirt looks like it is perfect for the weather this time of year; cool in the morning and warmer in the afternoon! Also particularly like the Rembrandt in the background!!
